I didn't know there was a difference. DD has had Molly for 3 years and she wears her saddle oxfords alot because DD has misplaced one meet shoe. I also have a pair of black ones I got on ebay (maybe form 2debs - I know I've bought something from her) and I do like them better. I like the color of the sole on the new ones though because they remind me of some I had.
My Molly Saddle Shoes are from somewhere between 1993-94, well before the Mattel buyout, and the resemble your picture of the "new AG shoes". They are no where near as nice as your "originals". They have that reddish brownish bottom. Though I haven't had them on Molly in awhile (ask me again once I put her in her Camp outfit next month) but I like them better than the brown oxfords, they seem sturdier.
I have a pair of the new ones, and I have to admit, my dolls NEVER wear them. [img]frown.gif[/img]

Don't bother looking for a PM pair. Molly's saddle shoes haven't changed. We have an original pair from when she was first introduced and they were just as cheap looking and lousy fitting then too.
The real nice AG saddle shoes are from a dance outfit that was only offered in the stores. I think it was called the Jitterbug and it was purple with red and white accents. It may still be available.
Curt's site says that the outfit is only available at the Chicago store.

I got my saddle shoes in '91 (way before Mattel) and they mine look like the new shoes. I've never seen the ones that are marked "original AG". Mine have the brown bottoms, and look just like the "new AG".
They do fit well, and I like them.

An aftermarket "fix" was required for the outfit as the matching briefs did not have elastic in the legs and, for those familiar with the jitterbug and swing dancing in general, is that a girl's briefs occasionally flash by. My Susanna has orange and black saddle shoes from 2debsaodreables. They are so cute and fit perfectly. I also have a pair of Molly saddle shoes that I got in an ebay auction for her Camp outfit. They fit Susanna just fine which is good enough for her. I will have to order another pair for Molly from Deb.
I am disappointed of Molly meet outfit. The fabric of the skirt and baret is horrable.
The body of the doll is full with blue fibres of this stupid fabric [img]frown.gif[/img]
Otherwise i am happy with my new doll :-)
